Geneva Connect
My wife and I and our two boys moved to Geneva Switzerland in 2021, because Robbie was offered a job within the UN system. When I arrived in Geneva, I asked the Lord two questions:
It was the answers the Lord impressed on my heart that gave birth to Geneva Connect. To my first question, the sense I got from the Lord was “No one comes to Geneva for vacation, they come for work, so focus your attention on the workplace”.
The second impression I received was “the country is economically rich but relationally poor,( a lot of people feel very lonely and isolated in Geneva) so build community and preach the gospel through the power of community”.
Based on the word of the Lord, and the support of a local church (Crossroads) that had a similar heart for the city – Geneva Connect was born.
What is Geneva Connect?
Geneva Connect is a city-wide community and network of workplace believers committed to living out their faith in the workplace and displaying the Kingdom of Jesus through their vocations.
We don’t believe this can be done as individuals, it takes community. So Geneva Connect works with believers in any organization to start a workplace community within their place of employment, so they can live out their faith and mission as a unified community in their organization despite the atheistic climate.
We then support, train, and convene this growing network of workplace communities as a means of building city-wide community among believers, facilitating a learning and training environment, discussing how we can be salt and light at work for the benefit of all, and mobilizing disciples for mission of spiritual gifts within the marketplace.
The Workplace Community Meetings
There is variety in what a workplace community may choose to do when they meet at work, but there is a basic 5 Rhythm Framework that guides their activities.
We believe in working with the local church, and the work we have done so far we have in partnership with the local church.
